Namaste and Welcome to Swaraanjali studio of fine arts!!..

I am Viji Somanath. I am a college professor working as a part time biology faculty member at Tarrant Community College, Arlington,Texas. My passion as a Classical Carnatic music vocalist has always been to develop and share what little music knowledge I have attained with the rest of the world. I routinely perform in the Irving temple and other concerts and activities around the Metroplex. Past 47 years of my training has been spent in learning from gurus in India namely Smt.Sundari Janakiraman including the very popular and highly talented musician in the Dallas area Guru.Mrs.Lalitha Seshadri who is known popularly as lalitha mami. Smt.Lalitha Seshadri is a disciple of Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna and Sri.Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer . In 2013, my daughter Sowmya and myself went to explore the Hindustani music segment of A.R.Rahman institute(KMC) in Chennai for 3 months. It was a superb experience to be part of the Music Conservatory which is supposedly India�s first Apple authorized training center, and offers quality education. Presently, we are under the able tutelage of Sangeetha Samrat Sangeeta kalanidhi Chitravina ravikiran who is an exponent of Music!. I have always loved to teach music and my whole life seems like it revolves around dance and music besides family and work.. After conducting a Bharathanatyam arangetram and a Kuchipudi rangapravesam for my daughter, i must admit that my desire and love for this divine art form and music has escalated exponentially! Our curriculum is mainly based on Carnatic classical music besides training the students on various slokas,stotras, Bhajans,semi classical music and devotional music. I have involved my kids/students in temple programs, fund raisers and festivals including UTA Diwali program, navarathri recitals at Ekta mandir, routine recitals at Ganesha temple, Plano, Tantex Sankranthi and Ugadi programs,India Nite/day programs and Vasant panchami and Brahmotsavam besides the vidya vikas annual program at the D/FW hindu temple in Irving. I have always been involved in teaching and giving performances as part of my volunteer work and charity programs that includes the DFW temple(Ekta Mandir) where i am the vidyavikas Bhajan coordinator; have been passionately involved with the Thyagaraja aradhana for almost 33 years, OVK sapta ratna kriti programs at various temples in and around the metroplex.. My recent programs include participation as part of Ravikiran Sir's group at Cleveland Thyagaraja festival in 2015, Singing the complex Syama Sastry Kamakshi Swarajathis at the Maha Kumbhabhishekam at the Maragatha Karya siddhi Hanuman temple including venkatamakhi and thyagaraja aradhana celebrations at KSHT as part of a group, Ganapathi satchithananda swamiji 75th bday celebrations recital at Karya siddhi hanuman temple, etc..Guruvayurappan temple recitals were a good experience for students and guru alike..This past year, Some of my students participated in Make a WISH foundation sponsored by Natyanivedanam followed by a Ganesha temple recital in march..Our swaraanjali vocal recitals have always been a great success at KSHT past several years. There could be various opportunities for the students to display their talents in future programs in the area provided they are ready and capable to perform.

Class Structure: The class will last for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the level of learning. There will be 4 classes/month. Once/week.. No make up classes can be offered if the students misses a class/classes.. the student however can go into another class at another location provided his or her time permits..If the instructor misses a class., I either make it up or adjust the fees. All fees is paid only by the month.. not by class..Please make sure the student brings their music book, a notebook and a pencil/pen with an eraser, a water bottle. I will send the recording of the music via email. You will somehow receive your recording via one of the above routes. The files will be emailed to the students ID/and or parent email.Starting August 2017, The fees will be 75$/month for students who are ages 6-16 respectively. Adult students will be charged separately depending on their level of training...it is 25$ per class. It is due the last class of the month.(4th class of the month). Please pay your dues in time.
