Online Bharathanatyam and Carnatic Vocal classes:
Online classes in Bharathanatyam and Carnatic music vocal, conducted by the sister duo- Swetha Vijayaraghavan and Lakshmi Vijayaraghavan- founders of Pragati Institute of Fine Arts.
Swetha Vijayaraghavan, disciple of the legendary Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman and Padmabhushan Kalanidhi Narayan, has over 20 years of Bharathanatyam experience in the Kalakshetra style. Commended for her natural grace and sense of rhythm, Swetha has carved for herself a niche in the field, through various performances and prestigious awards. She is a very passionate teacher and has taught in Chennai and Chicago for over a decade.
Lakshmi Vijayaraghavan, a disciple of renowned Carnatic Vidushi Smt. Sowmya, has been a student of Carnatic Music since the tender age of 3 and has been passionately spreading the art form through teaching and performing for over a decade in India and the US. She is married Vishnudev Namboothiri, a highly regarded artist and winner of the 3rd season of the popular annual Jaya TV competition, �Carnatic Idol�
Apart from establishing a successful career individually in their respective art forms, Swetha and Lakshmi also have collaborated to explore, understand and appreciate the intricate correlation between music and dance. And thus emerged Pragati. In the modern day, where excess innovation has led to dilution of tradition, the core value of Pragati is to hold on to the roots of classicism and divinity which defines our Indian fine arts. Inspired by the story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, the motto of Pragati is- Pursuit of Perfection.
